Monk:
— Master, I’ve made a list of questions with no answers.
Master:
— Read the last.
The monk turned the pages—until he reached the final one.
— Empty.
The master gestured.
— Fill it. Now.
The monk raised the brush—
his hand would not descend.
The master turned the page.
The monk did not speak.
The master laid his palm on the book.

僧：
— 答えなき問い、書付にした。
師：
— 末尾を読め。
僧、頁を繰りて、遂に尽きたり。
— 空なり。
師、手を示す。
— 今、満たせ。
僧、筆を上ぐ——
手、下りず。
師、頁をめくる。
僧、黙す。
師、掌をもって書を覆う。

Монах:
— Учитель, я составил список вопросов без ответа.
Учитель:
— Прочти последний.
Монах листал — и дошёл до последней страницы.
— Пусто.
Учитель:
— Покажи.
Монах указал.
Учитель:
— Заполни сейчас.
Монах взял кисть —
рука не опустилась.
Учитель перевернул лист.
Монах молчал.
Учитель накрыл книгу ладонью.
