Gaze into the Sun / Взгляд в солнце
Взгляд в солнце — это не только движение глаза к свету.
Это ещё и взгляд, уже пребывающий в самом солнце,
смотрящий оттуда, из невыносимого центра,
назад — в того, кто осмелился смотреть.
Здесь нет двух.
Нет ни человека, ни светила
как двух разделенных берегов зрения.
Есть только ослепляющая обратимость:
ты входишь взглядом в огонь,
и огонь входит взглядом в тебя.
Слово «взгляд» никому не принадлежит.
Ни глазу.
Ни солнцу.
Ни памяти.
Ни имени.
Оно возникает там, где уже невозможно сказать,
кто видит
и кто видим.
Абсолют не стоит над этим
как внешний наблюдатель.
Он проступает в самом смотрении —
как безымянная ясность,
как неизвестное между,
которое нигде и везде,
ни тут ни там,
ни внутри ни вовне.
Всякая попытка найти смотрящего
кончается взглядом.
И взгляд, проходя сквозь сущее,
познаёт непознаваемое —
как опыт самого иллюзорного акта
видения-невидения.
To look into the sun is not only to turn the eye toward light.
It is also to meet a gaze already there,
already within the sun itself,
looking out from that unbearable center
back into the one who dared to look.
There are not two.
No man and no star
facing one another as severed shores of sight.
There is only a blinding reversal:
you enter the fire by seeing,
and the fire enters you by the same blaze.
The word gaze belongs to no one.
Not to the eye.
Not to the sun.
Not to memory.
Not to the name.
It arises where it can no longer be said
who sees
and who is seen.
The absolute does not stand apart,
hovering above this
as some external witness.
It breaks forth in seeing itself:
a nameless clarity,
an unknown between
that is nowhere and everywhere,
neither here nor there,
neither within nor without.
Every attempt to find the seer
ends in the gaze.
And the gaze, passing through all that is,
knows the unknowable
as the ordeal of that illusory act:
seeing
and unseeing.
